Going South

Follow me as I adapt to southern living and see the world one weekend at a time

1 note

I had one of the most wonderful Thanksgiving weeks ever. I got to have three full Thanksgiving meals, plus countless leftovers! We had Thanksgiving at work, Friendsgiving and of course family Thanksgiving on the real day. I cooked different things for each event. All three are great holiday time recipes:

Pumpkin Pie

Sweet Potatoes

Raspberry Black Bean Dip (aka the best thing you have ever tasted in your life)

I was at home in Connecticut for family Thanksgiving and we had a group of nine over to the house for dinner. As always, my mom put together an incredible meal for all of us. We had a fun family Skype date with our cousins who are currently living in London. Ahh technology!

The Friday after Thanksgiving we always go into Manhattan to see a movie, look at the department store Christmas windows and have dinner. This year we saw “The Descendants”, which was good but horribly sad. We had a fabulous dinner at Il Fornaio which is our absolute favorite place in Little Italy. I had the spinach ravioli, but I really think every single thing on the huge menu is tasty. We also had coffee and cannolis just down the street at Caffe Roma.

I also got to spend some time with my high school friends who I don’t get to see very often. We went to the local bar and had a great time catching up on life over drinks. This is why I love Thanksgiving. Getting to see lots of people who I don’t normally get to see the rest of the year! Hope you enjoyed your holiday too and went back to work feeling relaxed and refreshed today.
