After a day of walking around chilly Toronto and a dip in the hotel hot tub, we took the subway down to Union Station and had our Valentine’s Day dinner at Far Niente, a wonderful Italian (sort of) restaurant. The menu was eclectic with subtle hints of an Italian influence, and the food was delicious. The portions were not huge, but I actually appreciated feeling comfortably full instead of stuffed when we were done. We then headed back north to the Canon Theater to see Little House the Musical. Melissa Gilbert is no broadway singer, but it was certainly entertaining and I know all the little girls in the audience wearing their pink bonnets loved it. We finished the evening at the Elephant & Castle Pub right around the corner from our hotel where we watched the Olympics.

*The Allan Gardens Conservatory. A quiet oasis hidden just to the east of downtown Toronto with more beautiful flowers and plants than I have ever seen in one place. And, bonus, the greenhouse effect means it’s really warm in there!
*Grabbing a bite to eat at Daniel et Daniel and walking around Cabbagetown just because

I’m headed to Fort Worth to watch the game. What are you doing?
An exciting new discovery during my trip to NYC this weekend (thanks Danielle!). We had dim sum brunch at Jing Fong in Chinatown, and it was a unique and truly delicious experience. We got there early (before 11), were seated immediately, and had food on the table with in 30 seconds of walking in. Jing Fong has large tables so it’s great for a group and, added bonus, it’s DIRT CHEAP!!! We had five different items, and paid a total of $16. Highly recommend Jing Fong to any New Yorker wanting a different brunch experience this weekend.
